Account Director

We have a vacancy for the exciting position of Account Director to join our team in Manchester. The Account Director will take responsibility for the overall relationship between SP and the client and ensure that the account optimises profit potential.

Key objectives and tasks:

Account Development

  • Identify new opportunities with clients for Marketing Activation
  • Increase awareness of the Group offer and develop commercial and sales capabilities within the team
  • Develop and implement account plans across the account responsibilities
  • Drive continuous improvements across all internal and external process, innovations , communications and services
  • Demonstrate delivery of perceived value both internally and externally

Sales & Margins

  • Achieve budgeted revenue, AV and profit
  • Work with the commercial and production teams to drive margin improvement
  • Ability to articulate and be responsible for the P&L of the Account and the teams support in this delivery
  • To aid the team in improving margin and revenue and driving cost savings

Team Management 

  • Develop the commercial focus within your team and ensure your team is always customer focused
  • Review account performance in relation to overheads
  • Manage an effective and strong team , set objectives, manage and measure performance, give constructive feedback and strive to continuously lift team performance
  • Ensure clear and measurable targets are in place for each member of your team
  • Ensure the team give a clear, full brief to the production services in line with documented process to manufacturing and purchasing
  • To set an example to the rest of the team ensuring a positive attitude and excellent working relationships
  • Demonstrate appropriate business values and behaviours in line with the values of Marketing Activation
  • Ensure that the team is aware of company policies and that these are adhered to at all times

 Relationship Management

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to fully understand customer requirements and to ensure you can offer improvements and efficiencies in all they do
  • Develop sustainable relationships at all levels both internally and externally
  • Bring innovation for clients through development, testing and trialing
  • Work with the client and other departments/divisions to help deliver continuous improvement and optimise margin
  • Map agree and implement WOW with clients and suppliers
  • Handle client confrontations or complaints professionally and effectively

General 

  • Responsibility for all aspects of the projects, goods and services for their designated account/s area and/or category
  • Deliver defined projects and liaise with designated stakeholders within a particular account/s or areas of operations with the support of allocated team resources
  • Understand the basic contract, its framework, commercials and agreed service levels required
  • Optimise supply chain by utilising internal resource and best practice

Person Specification:

  • Experience working in a similar role or as a Senior Account Manager
  • A strong understanding of all forms of print and its position in the overall marketing mix
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to prepare and present reports
  • Negotiation skills up to director level
  • Confident in managing a team and taking a leadership role
  • Time management and ability to prioritise and have a flexible approach to working
  • Self-motivated
